Edusko holds the first Unified StudyUk Sent-Forth reception in Lagos
The first ever unified pre-departure orientation program and reception for Nigerian scholars admitted into UK universities was recently held in Lagos.
The event which was hosted at the residence of the British Deputy High Commissioner had in attendance British Deputy High commissioner, guests from Oxford Africa Initiative, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Chevening Scholars and recipients of other UK university scholarship awards.

In his remarks, Jide Ayegbusi, founder, Edusko Africa, the organization behind the initiative said the primary objective of the event was to celebrate young Nigerians who have been given scholarships to study in top UK Universities.
“Every year, more than 10,000 Nigerians are admitted into universities in the UK for undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses. This year, we are partnering with the British High Comion in Nigeria and Chevening Nigeria to host the first unified reception for scholars who're recipients of the prestigious scholarships.”
Edusko Africa, the organization behind the initiative, is poised to promoting UK universities across Africa and helping thousands of young Africans get quality higher education in the UK and beyond. We are also excited about the commitment of the UK to investing in the Nigerian knowledge economy as part of its wider interest to contribute to the Nation’s economic growth.”

Laure Beaufils, the Deputy British High Commissioner, in her statement emphasized Britain’s commitment to education and empowerment of Nigerians, in her speech, she said “We are excited to collaborate with StudyUK team to make this year's edition a success". There are so many Universities in the UK that offer outstanding educational opportunities to Nigerians for study- undergraduate, postgraduate or even diplomas. This is creating a human bridge of talent between the UK and Nigeria, which is very important to both countries.”
Speaking on behalf of participating universities, Tosin Adebisi, Senior International Officer at the University of Sussex said, “I am delighted by this joined-up approach that does not only serve to celebrate these remarkable scholars but also to promote Study in the UK and showcase the range of scholarships offered by universities and the Foreign Commonwealth Office, thereby, countering common misconceptions about the limited scholarships available in the UK”.

This year, more than 10 top UK universities sent 2 scholars each to attend the reception. Among them are: University of Sussex, Birmingham University, University of Warwick, University of Northumbria, Leeds Beckett University, University of Central Lancashire, De Montfort University.
Others universities in participation are University of East Anglia, University of Nottingham, University of Glasgow and UWE, Bristol.
