Inside the final days of Anthony Bourdain’s life

Anthony Bourdain was in a "dark mood" in the days leading up to his suicide, his best friend and traveling companion told the famed chef's mother.
The 61-year-old host of CNN's Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown hanged himself in the bathroom of a room at Le Chambard hotel in Kaysersberg, a village in the Alsace region of France. There was no evidence of foul play in his death, a prosecutor said. Results of toxicology tests are pending.
Bourdain had traveled with his best friend and fellow chef Éric Ripert. Bourdain's mother, Gladys Bourdain, told the New York Times that Ripert had told her that "Tony had been in a dark mood these past couple of days," but that she had no idea why he might have decided to kill himself.

"He had everything. Success beyond his wildest dreams. Money beyond his wildest dreams," she said. "He is absolutely the last person in the world I would have ever dreamed would do something like this."

Beware! Breast and butt enlargement bad for your health

For the obvious reasons, many women pay so much attention to their breasts and butts; not just because they are vital body parts, but also because these sexual organs are central to their attractiveness by men.
Perhaps, out of the need to impress or boost their confidence level, some women resort to employing different means to enlarge these body parts; talk of breast enlargement and butts enlargement. To some younger persons, the bigger the better, while to some wives, big breasts and butts would increase their husbands’ desire for sex, especially knowing that men are moved by what they see.
Although, there are some who do it because their breasts didn’t really develop, that, according to reports, is in the minority.
But as much as some are able to enlarge these body parts successfully, usually through surgery, safe for the option of taking (expensive) pills, experts have warned that there are inherent dangers in going under the knife to enlarge these organs.
In fact, usually, such persons are requested to sign consent forms, just to make sure they have been briefed of and are well aware of the potential risks and complications that could arise.
Talking about breasts first, apart from the huge financial cost, some studies have proved that there are usually complications that would occur after the surgery, thus, there would likely be additional surgeries to correct the resulting complications.
There are two popular implants for breast enlargement, which are saline (filled with saline or sterile saltwater) and silicone (filled with silicone gel), but according to an associate professor of surgery at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Laurie Casas, both saline and silicone implants do not last forever, as some break while some deflate and have to be changed. “Patients have to deal with that reality; nothing lasts forever,” she told WebMD, a website that provides valuable health information and tools for managing health.

Another risk associated with breast implants is a rare form of cancer, called anaplastic large cell lymphoma. The Food and Drug Administration in the United States, while issuing the warning in 2017, said the cancer might have killed about nine persons already, regardless of whether it’s saline or silicone implant.
“As of February 1, 2017, the FDA has received a total of 359 medical device reports of breast-implant-associated ALCL, including nine deaths,” the FDA said, advising that people should take some caution before going for any implant.
While also cautioning women who are contemplating breast implant, the World Health Organisation said the cancer could take up to 10 years to develop. It explained that the cancer often presents itself as an accumulation of seroma fluid between the implant and the surrounding fibrous capsule. It also noted that early detection and removal of the implant could be the possible solution.
“All of the information to date suggests that women with breast implants have a very low, but increased risk of developing ALCL compared to women who do not have breast implants,” FDA officials said on their website.
More incisively, the FDA, on its website, identified the risks to include pain in the nipple or breast areas, changes in nipple and breast sensation, rupture of implants and capsular contracture, which is a breast augmentation complication that develops when internal scar tissue forms a tight or constricting capsule around a breast implant, contracting the breast until it becomes misshapen and hard.

The other complications, according to FDA, include the fact that while some can breastfeed despite the implant, some may not be able to breastfeed because the breast tissue and glands that produce milk could have been lost during the surgery; and it is not yet known whether some silicone could pass through the shell into the breast milk during breastfeeding, which could affect such a child.
Others include skin rashes around the breast, shifting of the silicone, usually caused by gravity or trauma, risk of infections that accompany surgery and in this case could lead to the removal of the implant, the incision site might not heal on time, deflation, due to the leakage of the saltwater in the saline solution, chest wall or underlying rib cage could appear deformed, the skin around the breast could shrink, the breasts could appear uneven in appearance in terms of size, shape or breast level, which could prompt desperate moves to package them or consider another surgery to avoid embarrassment.
“Many of the changes to your breast following implantation may be cosmetically undesirable and irreversible and the longer you have breast implants, the more likely you are to experience local complications and adverse outcomes,” the FDA warns.
A Birmingham-based woman, named Dennie Lees, who had earlier undergone breast implant, said she almost lost her life in 2016 when her breasts burst. She paid £2,375 (over N1.2m) for the first surgery.
In a report by UK Metro, she said the explosion occurred few days after her surgery in Belgium. Lees said a nurse told her that she would have died overnight if she had not gone back straight to the hospital immediately she felt ripple sensation in her left breast, after the second surgery.
And beyond the risks associated with surgery, the Cancer Research organisation in the UK warned people against using pills for enhancements. “Because we don’t know enough about the long term safety and effectiveness of breast enhancement pills, we recommend that you don’t use them,” it added.
It also warned that people who have breast cancer should not use such pills, warning that the pills could interfere with the cancer treatments.

While many people seem to focus on breast enlargement and its effects, studies have revealed that butt enlargement, usually through surgery, is as risky as the former.
In fact, a report by Mail Online showed that at least 15 women died from butt implants between 2011 and 2015, and a 45-year-old Venezuelan woman who also underwent the surgery said, “It hurts so much I can’t sit down for even five minutes.”
And it should be noted that inability to sit down, owing to severe pains, is one of the complications such women have to live with. Unlike the breast enlargement procedure, the synthetic substance injected into the butt has been found to be unstable and could move to any part of the body, which could result in deformity or even death, as it could find its way to the lungs.
A 25-year-old lady, Janelle Edwards, died in 2016 after her failed plastic surgery. New York Daily News had reported that Edwards, a mother of two daughters, lived in pains. It was later found out that she died as a result of blood clot, which was caused by the surgeries she had recently.
Her sister, Samantha, was reported to have said that the operations – breast enlargement, a tummy tuck and butt implants, which she did at Dominican Republic killed her. One of her neighbours was also quoted as saying the deceased was in pains even before she died.
A consultant endocrinologist, Dr. Michael Olamoyegun, stressed that though people do it for fashion and to look sexier, there are “so many” risks associated with it.
He also noted that the complications are usually more with the butt enlargement than breasts enlargement, because the implant for butt is bigger.
He identified the associated risks to include the risk of the surgery itself, the risk of the anaesthesia because such persons would be placed under general or regional anaesthesia. He said each surgery has its own inherent complications, coupled with the risk of the implant itself.
He added, “The major complications associated with it include haemorrhage (bleeding) during surgery, there can be infections, the implant being inserted into the body is a foreign material to the body, so it can cause allergy as well as attract infection. So, some people can react to the implant; it’s usually a synthetic material.

“There can be rejection of the implant by the body, but the most feared complication is the rupture of that implant. Once it ruptures, it causes ulceration, which can lead to necrosis, in which case the blood supply to that region could be cut off.”
Necrosis is the death of most or all of the cells in an organ or tissue due to disease, injury, or failure of blood supply.
He said the complications apply to both breasts and butt implant “but the ulceration could be more for butt implant, because the size of the implant put in the butt is bigger than the one in the breasts. So, the failure is higher in the butt than in the breasts. The same thing with the ulceration and necrosis.”
It is equally worthy of note that not every man loves ‘them’ big, and as previously advised by marriage counsellors, sex therapists and psychologists, people do not have to go for organ enlargement to have a satisfactory sexual experience. Rather, they advised that couples should make the most of what they have, especially by communicating intimately with their partners.

Details emerge in death of reggae star, Ras Kimono

Nigerian reggae star, Ras Kimono, has died.
Our correspondent gathered that the dreadlocked musician had slumped at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, while waiting to board a flight to the United States, on Saturday night.
According to sources close to him, Kimono was immediately rushed to an unnamed hospital in Ikeja and then taken to another hospital on Lagos Island where he later died on Sunday morning.
The death of the artiste, who was a native of Onicha Olona in the Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State and who recently clocked 60, was confirmed by the President of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, Pretty Okafor and the Chairman of the Copyright Society of Nigeria, Chief Tony Okoroji.

The event has since thrown members of the Nigerian music and culture community into deep mourning.
In his reaction, Okafor described Kimono’s death as very shocking. He said, “Ras Kimono was a very humble and excellent person. He was more like a father to me than a friend or colleague. He was one musician that never had any issue with anybody in the music industry. We are really going to miss him.”
Another reggae musician, African Chyna, said that Kimono’s death had left a vacuum in the music industry that would be difficult to fill. Describing the deceased as a great musician who died before his time, he said, “Nigeria has just lost a great icon. He was not supposed to die so soon. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”
A former President PMAN, Tee Mac Iseli, also expressed shock at the sad event. “I am shocked. I took him to PMAN as a young man in the 80s. We had since been very close,” he said.
Also, reacting, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State described the death of Kimono as a great loss to the people of the state and Nigeria’s music industry.

Okowa, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu, on Sunday, commiserated with the Nigeria music industry, family and friends of Kimono.
He said, “I received with sadness the news of the passing away of Ras Kimono, a great reggae legend. He will be remembered for his hit song, ‘Rumbar Stylee’.
“I join lovers of reggae music to mourn this great loss. He belonged to an era of great reggae music exponents in Nigeria.”
The governor added that Kimono had spent all his life promoting good governance through reggae music, good entertainment and healthy community relations.
Still shocked by the sad event, a popular musician, Baba Fryo, said he spoke with the deceased three days before his passage. “We spoke and, based on my observation, he wasn’t sick. I am worried at the news of his death. I am shocked,” he said.
Reacting to a message posted on Facebook, a close friend of Kimono, Iwa Okosun, suggested that Kimono might have been ill. He said, “We were together on Wednesday afternoon. He said he was coming from the clinic.”

Then, addressing the deceased, Okosun added, “Just last month, we were with you celebrating your 60th birthday. I’m in shock. God will strengthen your family to bear this huge pain. Rest in peace, Kimono.”

8 things you should never say to your teenager

Nothing in life is worth fighting for.

Your best clothes is someone's rag.

Your account balance is someone's donation at a function.

Your girl friend/boy friend or fiance/fiancee' is someone's Ex.

Every single prostitute you see in a hotel or on the street at night was at some point in time a virgin.

So what is the squabble all about?

Life is too short and small to feel bigger or better than anybody.

"We're all naked to death" says Steve Jobs.

"Nothing can save us from it".

I hate to see people who brag about wealth, beauty, intelligence, level of education, fame and material possessions.

There's nothing you've achieved in life that no one else has never gotten.

The office you occupy today was occupied by someone yesterday and will be occupied by another person tomorrow.

You don't know whom that person might be.

There's only one thing that is worth bragging about which is

"LIFE IN GOD ALMIGHTY".

SO BE GOOD TO YOUR FELLOW MAN AND ALWAYS MAKE FRIENDS.

Always remember that the people you trampled upon on your way up a ladder will be the same set of people you're likely to pass on your way down.

so cause no problem for others or make life unbearable for another by virtue of your position.

because if you do, they'll become your very problem one day.

Finally, even banana stems will one day become dried leaves.

Please don't be selfish, share this inspiring video to friends and family as we're all in one way or the other guilty.

8 Things You Should Never Say to Your Teenager

Having challenges communicating with your teen? Experts offer tips on what not to say.

Every day, parents of teens face the tough task of setting clear boundaries and ground rules, without bossing, criticizing, or attacking. Consider some of these pointers from experts.

1. Don’t be too bossy. Teens hate to be told what to do. Parents, be sure to phrase commands, directions, and suggestions in such a way that your adolescent doesn't feel dictated to, or that you are decreeing laws. And do it with a smile and humor whenever possible.

2. Speak privately.  Try not to criticize in front of friends and siblings. A caring tone is also recommended.

3. Be constructive. Criticism should be a learning tool, accompanied by an explanation.  Make sure your words are meant to guide -- not aimed at hurting someone.

4. You should:
It doesn't matter what follows these two words.it's human nature to rebel against them for most people, and teens feel this more strongly than most. This is the age when autonomy means everything, and that means not doing whatever a parent thinks you should, even if they agree.”

5. You are lazy:
This will not get chores done faster. Most children are not lazy. What happens is, we wait until they are teenagers to give them chores and then expect them to be on it. Get kids involved in helping earlier, so it isn’t a big surprise when they are asked.

6. You won't be able to do that:
Teens are hypersensitive to criticism, so try to offer a rationale. On its own, telling a teen that she's not capable is negative and hurtful. But to say, I'm concerned that you won't have the time you need to get this done well, or You'd have to make sure you learn about X Y Z to do this. Now the teen has an explanation.”

7: You'd be so pretty/good-looking if you'd just:
Teenage life is all about wanting to be liked and seen as attractive. Be gentle if addressing appearance. Teens are truly sensitive to our criticism, no matter how hard a shell they may seem to present, since our child's appearance is nowhere near the most important of his or her attributes, we need to focus on the self-exploration and keep negative comments to ourselves.

8: What a mean, nasty person you are:

Negative statements about a teen’s character can lead to a place of great shame, hurt, regret, confusion and anger.Try to say kind words to your teens. This helps parents learn about their kids, and restores calm while addressing grievances.

5 Things You Should Never Do in the Morning

If you ever feel like you don’t get enough done in the day, it’s because you’re doing what you should never do in the morning.
One of the worst feelings we can experience at 5 p.m is thinking, “I was so busy today but I accomplished nothing.”

This lack of progress is the greatest source of demotivation. It’s why employees quit, small businesses fail, and why we are tempted to give up on our dreams.
But it doesn’t have to be that way.Did you know that just five common morning mistakes are holding you back?

Most self-employed experts fall into these time traps. But the most successful independent entrepreneurs overcome these obstacles and dominate their days. In turn, their productivity and income soars.

Here are five things you must NEVER do in the morning if you want to get more done, have more focus, and be hyper-successful.

1. Never Hit The Snooze Button

Sleeping longer is probably one of the greatest desires you had back when you were working for a big corporation. But when you hit the snooze button you are subconsciously telling your big goals and dreams that they don’t matter. That leads to a lack of urgency in life, lower productivity, and frustration by the end of the day.
Make the mindset switch this habit. When your alarm goes off, wake up with a mindset of taking on the day and tackling your top project so you make progress every morning.

2. Never Write Your To-Do List

Wait, what? How am I supposed to get organized?
The truth is that if you’re setting your to do-list first thing in the morning, you’re already too late!
You need to know your number one priority the night before, and have a plan in place to start working on it immediately. That’s how the most successful people in the world, from the greatest writers of today like J.K. Rowling and Stephen King to the most successful artists in history, control their mornings.

3. Never Check Email

One of the worst things you can do is roll over and start scrolling through your email. When you do that, time seems to disappear into a black hole and you can never get it back. Worse, email often leads to social media, and then you can kiss another 30 minutes goodbye.
While it’s tempting to check your email for work payments, important meetings, and the final score of the Yankees game, you must realize that email can wait.
You are much better off going to work on your top priority with a clear mind. This is how you make profound progress in the work. Give at least 30 minutes, if not 60 or more, to your top priority.

4. Never Mindlessly Surf The Internet

Here’s a scary thing to do. Add a time tracker application to your computer and mobile phone that can tell you how much time you spend each day on every website you visit or social media and even your bank account.
When you see those numbers you might be shocked… and maybe ashamed you wasted so much time. Just think of what else you could be doing with those hours that correlate directly to your success.
Don’t let your internet rob you of the progress you so badly want to make.
Add another program to your computer called Internet Freedom. This app can block you from visiting certain websites or from using the Internet at all during certain times.
With these new boundaries in place, you’ll have made time for what matters.

5. Never Eat or Drink Food That Makes You Feel Unwell

Many of my clients have impeccable morning routines. They wake up early, they set their minds to a positive attitude, they give gratitude, and then they spend time thinking about growing their empires.
It sounds like the perfect morning, and for some it is, but for others, the tranquility and success of this morning is all but destroyed with poor nutrition habits.
They eat cereal, milk, and juice for breakfast, then wonder why they are falling asleep and no longer productive at 10 a.m. Or worse, they consume 300 calories of sugar in their morning mug of caffeine, leading to a hard crash at 11 a.m., and then in order to compensate they have more caffeine and processed foods at lunch to get “energy.”
Too many people lose the day through their diet rather than their work habits. Don’t make the same mistake.
Make a note of what you eat and how you feel. Establish cause and effect between what goes in your mouth and how you feel in your mind. It’s a direct relation!
When you find the right fuel for your efficiency, you can double or triple your productivity, even if you already have an effective morning routine in place.

These are the 5 secret habits missing from so many people morning routines, and possibly from yours, too. But when you follow all of these NOT to-do rules, you’ll protect yourself from the time-management pitfalls holding you back in life.

First lady's office pushes back against Giuliani on Stormy Daniels comment

First lady Melania Trump’s office is sending a strong and clear message when it comes to Rudy Giuliani: Mrs. Trump speaks for herself, thank you very much.
On Wednesday when addressing a conference in Tel Aviv, Israel, Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani was asked about first lady's reaction to an alleged affair between Trump and porn star Stormy Daniels.
Giuliani replied, the first lady “believes her husband, and she knows it’s untrue. I don't even think there's a slight suspicion that it's true.
But Thursday, the first lady’s spokesperson forcefully swatted back.
“I don’t believe Mrs. Trump has ever discussed her thoughts on anything with Mr. Giuliani,” Stephanie Grisham, communications director for the first lady, told ABC News.
Mrs. Trump, who just Wednesday re-emerged for the first time after weeks out of the spotlight, has not discussed the alleged sexual encounter between Trump and Daniels in public. Mrs. Trump was a young mother at the time of the alleged affair.
Daniels went public about her relationship with Trump early this year in an attempt to void a nondisclosure agreement and bring attention to a $130,000 hush money payment the president's lawyer made just weeks before the 2016 presidential election. Trump now admits he reimbursed his lawyer, Michael Cohen, for the payment.
In Israel, Giuliani went on to criticize Daniels’ credibility and allegation she had an affair with Trump because she is a porn star.
“Look at his three wives. Beautiful women. Classy women. Women of great substance. Stormy Daniels?” Giuliani said while shaking his head. “I’m sorry I don’t respect a porn star the way I respect a career woman or a woman of substance or a woman who has great respect for herself as a woman and as a person and isn’t going to sell her body for sexual exploitation.”
Daniels’ attorney Michael Avenatti replied by calling Giuliani a “misogynist” on Twitter.
“Mr. Giuliani is a misogynist. His most recent comments regarding my client, who passed a lie detector test and who the American people believe, are disgusting and a disgrace. His client Mr. Trump didn’t seem to have any “moral” issues with her and others back in 2006 and beyond,” Avenatti tweeted.

A Small Dog Famous For Taunting A Local Crocodile Has Been Eaten

Pippa the terrier had reportedly been goading the crocodile for years.

small terrier named Pippa who spent years nipping at a local crocodile in Darwin, Australia, has been snapped up.

ippa the dog routinely provoked and chased off a local crocodile in the region. The small pooch, also known as Dumb Blonde, has been doing it for over a decade. But new footage featuring the fluffy canine risking too much and ultimately being eaten was uploaded on Monday after people staying at the Goat Island Lodge recorded the incident. That video has gone viral and it's...quite something.

Pippa's owner, Kai Hansen, operates Goat Island Lodge, a small hub in the middle of the Northern Territory's crocodile-infested Adelaide River. He told ABC Radio in Darwin that Pippa had been nipping at the local crocodile – named Casey – for almost a decade and made her biggest mistake by attempting to bite the croc on the head.
"I've watched her do it hundreds of times," he said. "It's certainly not something I've trained her to do. She's just this little terrier who has this little dog syndrome and she thinks she's equal to the croc if not bigger."
Hansen didn't think Casey lashed out because she was hungry. He said it was just an opportunity that finally presented itself.
"Crocodiles have all the time in the world," he said. "[Pippa] just couldn't help herself ... It was very unfortunate. It's something that I wouldn't say inevitably had to happen, but it had a high probability of it happening at some time."
Hansen said he would get a new dog for the lodge, but definitely wouldn't let it chase crocodiles.

Ghana dissolves its National football association amid corruption claims

Ghana has dissolved its national football association after its president was filmed apparently accepting a "cash gift".

Kwesi Nyantakyi was pictured taking $65,000 (£48,000) from an undercover reporter pretending to be a businessman keen to invest in Ghanaian football. He has not commented on the allegations.

Sports Minister Isaac Asiama said the association had been "dissolved with immediate effect".

Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, Ghana's information minister, said the government had "decided to take immediate steps to have the GFA (Ghana Football Association) dissolved", citing the "widespread nature of the apparent rot".

He said interim measures to govern Ghanaian football would be announced soon, pending the formation of a new association. The GFA said in a statement that it would co-operate with any investigation.

Nyantakyi is vice president of the Confederation of African Football and also a member of the Fifa Council, effectively the board that runs world football.  Since taking charge of the GFA, he has made anti-corruption a major part of his message. However, the undercover film shows him apparently placing the $65,000 "shopping money" into a black plastic bag.

Issa Rae slams Kanye West in front of Kim Kardashian

Last night at the CFDA Fashion Awards, actress Issa Rae slammed Kanye West for his statement that slavery was a choice for Black people, and she did this in front of Kim Kardashian.
The "Insecure" actress served as the host for the prestigious fashion awards show and she made some bold, but not unheard of, statements about Kanye West.
She said:
I’m about as fashionable as Kanye is black. Only when it’s convenient…That joke was my choice, just like slavery.
Kanye West's wife, Kim Kardashian was in the audience when Issa made the statement but the reality star has not reacted to the jab.
Along with Issa, her fellow "Insecure" castmates are also choosing not to support Kanye West’s controversial antics. Natasha Rothwell, who plays Kelly on the show, tweeted:
ICYMI: if u still fux wit Kanye, i don’t fux wit you.

Jay Ellis, the infamous Lawrence character, shared the same sentiments, tweeting:
Musical genius or not, until he walks back 'slavery as a choice' and making America great again, I can’t support.
